Location
The tropical grasslands/ savannas are typically found between the latitudes of 5° and 15° north and south of the Equator.
Climate
Tropical grasslands have warm weather year round. They have only two seasons, winter and summer. In the winter it is extremely dry and on average they get about 4 inches of rain all season. In the summer it is very wet; they get the most amount of rain during this season.
This Climatogram shows the increase in precipitation and temperatures during the summer, the hot and wet season. It also shows the decreased temperature and the minimal precipitation the savanna gets in the winter, the dry and cold season.

Why do savannas have this climate?
Savannas have this climate because the Earth spins on an axis and is sometimes closer to the sun than other times. The latitude placement dedicates the intensity and length of the sun exposure.
Soil
The soil in a tropical grassland is porous with rapid drainage of water. It has a thin layer of humus, which is good for vegetation and providing nutrients. It is a good agricultural soil even though it is not used for it in the grasslands.
